Sometimes prescient studies are buried into obscurity, even though the accuracy remains current and applicable 5 years later. That is the case here with the nonprofit Institute for Local Self-reliance.

Let me clarify that I am a big user of Amazon and admire much of what it has accomplished as a business, but that does not excuse the obligation to understand the impact of its business plan.

Because these consequences are increasingly influencing our local business and the need for jobs, it is helpful to understand the tradeoffs.
This 2016 study has pages and pages of sources cited so that anyone can verify the conclusions of this report.
I like that attention to detail. As I challenge statements I do not agree with to verify it is based on facts and not emotions or assumptions.
It is not a difficult read, so if you only have time to read one source, this should be the one.
